Amador County Loses, Again

Amador County Loses, Again

The voters must decide soon, is this “Amateur” County or “SCAMador” County? Once again Our local officials have failed Us. Recently, in the public records a disturbing trend has manifested in the actions of certain public representatives. In 2004, the District Attorney pointed out to the press that one fourth of the criminal cases (and by extension costs) in Amador County were on the Casino premises, therefore He requested that their enterprise contribute to the County expenses. The Attorney for the Native Americans promptly told the County there was no requirement to do so, and they would not voluntarily comply. This year when the calculations were checked, the current cost to process ¼ of the crimes in the County was five million dollars per year, and rising.
In other words, for the last four years or so Amador citizens have ‘pick up the bill’ for 15-20 million dollars of unpaid costs directly attributed to the Jackson Casino because of crime. Now on Aug. 28th 2007, it has been announced that the Governor has decided He is going to “cut” 30 million dollars earmarked this year that was suppose to have gone to Amador County to alleviate the situation.
(1.) When where Our public officials going to announce that this “casino mitigation” money was coming, next year during elections?
(2.) Why didn’t they prepare to fight this, instead of wasting time trying to sue the other tribes?
(3.) Who’s interests are they really protecting? Yours and Mine the citizens, or only the lobbyists and special interests?
There goes all that bypass money We thought was such a great boon. This latest debacle is a loss of fifty million dollars total and counting, but no money for prisons, libraries, Museums, fire or police. Your children’s future is being tossed around like a cheap Chinese toy. First it seems harmless to play with, but then it becomes evident that it is toxic and needs to be disposed of, meanwhile everyone bickers about the cost of cleaning up the mess.
Now, We are being told that We have to fund the Gambling industry, again. Your State and local officials have stated to You, the tax payers and citizens of Amador, You can just like it or lump it. I say they should be removed from office for incompetence. Take back Your destiny Amador, before it is too late.
