Readers are always suggesting stories

“Investigative reporting.
Still no story on what's really happening on the Jackson City Council or about Concerned Citizens of Jackson.
Funny how the Jackson City Council is full of Development interest that is driving large Projects through. Even if the growth will be at great expense to the current residents. Seems that Rosalee Pryor Escamilla braggs about her experience but she hides the fact that she is a realitor, that seems to not listen to the residents in Jackson. Wayne Garibaldi the Bank executive that makes big $$$ financing projects and Connie Gonzalves who Pushes development as hard as anyone who has ever been on the Council.
All of these buy space in the paper.
Is the Ledger deceidedly for growth thus not reporting both sides of the story?
Awaiting an answer. - THORNTON CONSOLO

Good point Thornton,
I mentioned about the same three months ago. I had left Connie out, but now that you mention it, she sells insurance (and is very nice about it). Also, isn’t Her Husband John Gonzalves the Dist. 1 supervisor candidate? Anyway, players play, and reports snooze, eh? Talk to Judy and Her group if your are against Jackson Hills, they have changed the tide recently.
And Raheem, please be more genuine, You or someone that reports there reads this. We are always suggesting stories here and about town, print a few and You would get more. Perhaps instead of concentrating on the AP feeds and witty sarcasms go out and dig a little. Darn little and you’d hit a lode. Better yet, I know Your reporters are all fine writers, why not let them dig more? Lots of problems, no solutions but We pay more and get less. - Mike W. Boitano

Story ideas
The paper has covered the Jackson Hills issue pretty extensively. Type "Jackson Hills" into our search engine if you want to verify that. You'll also pull up several commentaries I've written on that topic and growth in general, thoughts that I'd argue contradict Mr. Thornton's claims. On the other hand, this is not the "Jackson Hills Dispatch," nor should it be. We try for a balance of subjects and invite story ideas from everyone, not just prolific Red Phone commenters. The Buckhorn liquor store article by Kelly Scott is a perfect example of a story that originated from a reader.
A democracy of ideas from the staff and the reading public help ensure that we're not publishing the "Raheem Dispatch" or the "Consolo-Boitano Dispatch." The more voices there are, the better the symphony. - Raheem Hosseini, Editor

Go team Raheem!
Keep up the good work Raheem! Don't let these Red Phone Addicts continue to push you around! You've been doing a great job at covering the Jackson Hills situation...infact most of us are sick of hearing about it. It seems like a slim chance that Jackson Hills is going to happen, time to move on! - Raheem Fan

Dispatch
It seems that "prolific" commenters like Boitano and Consolo are the only ones who are submitting ideas for stories to the dispatch, and frankly, they have given you some good leads. Actually, i like the sound of Consolo Boitano Dispatch. Just kidding, but they have come up with ideas. What about everyone griping about traffic being D or F in Jackson, all that traffic is going to the Casino, lets be truthful about it! It's not rampant development causing the traffic, it's the Casino. How about an article on the D A's office not prosecuting cases that have merit? How about the overzealous motorcycle cop in Jackson? The list goes on and on, Raheem. - 4th Estate

The debate continued…

Okay, here's an answer
Twice now Thorton Consolo has questioned the Ledger Dispatch coverage and made the accusation that it is somehow related to protecting advertisers. I go to great lengths to see that advertising does not dictate news and find your conclusions (more like delusions) offensive. I'll be happy to meet and discuss your viewpoints, as I am with any reader of the Ledger Dispatch, but I'd suggest you start with a major apology. Otherwise, don't waste my time. You want to meet, I'm easy to find. - Jack Mitchell

Supervisor Boitano said what?
Don't you find it interesting that Supervisor Boitano states that tourism is the most important way to bring in more jobs, but invested $0 towards the Amador County Chamber of Commerce and Visitor's Bureau. The county collected $108,000 to reinvest in its businesses and in tourism and decided to completely cut-off the Amador County Chamber of Commerce (members over 500) from seeing any of the benefits of money the county promised to use towards bettering our business economy. No, not new businesses...the current businesses we have all come to know and love. Mike Boitano, you're dead on, I do spend my time and effort with a lot of businesses at the Amador County Chamber of Commerce. A better question is why aren't you? - Jack Mitchell

LACK OF OBJECTIVE REPORTING Jack & Raheem,
I stand behind my complaint about coverage. If protection of advertisers isn't an issue, I APPOLOGISE. I merely asked if that were the case. I was guessing why balance was not there. Investigative reporting is still lacking.
Jack, you support Jackson Hills. That's why I went in that direction. The Jackson City Council approves big projects against the will of the people. This is the story. It's not the project. Why haven't you reported until today about the referrenda challenge to the Jackson City general plan update EIR certification.
Big things are happening. people don't know the story because you haven't told them. The dreaded HOME DEPOT Shopping center and the WICKLOW WAY projects are comming! The job to inform people about it is yours. It's also your job to protect the people with the truth! Remember Woodward And Bernstein? - Thornton Consolo
