Sacramento Developers Are Going Green

(CBS13) SACRAMENTO By going green, builders here at F and15th Street say it will bring in the green; cold hard cash. And will also help the environment.

You don’t have to sacrifice to go green anymore. Riding the eco-friendly wave, you can find at this sustainable development in Sacramento's urban core.

It's the first in Northern California to combine geothermal air conditioning with solar. Another green element inside the development is that all the paint and all the finishing is non toxic. And when this is all done, you'll still have all the benefits of an upscale home.

But, this healthier home comes at a premium.

"It looks like we are going to be about $550,000 for the largest units and $495,000 for the other ones," says one developer.

More than a few hundred thousand dollars for any of these three bedrooms, two bathroom townhouses is a price tag that developers say will ultimately pay for itself.

Paying more in a housing crunch, and going cutting edge for going green later.
